About AHC Ready

What it is

AHC Ready is a free calculator for UK pet owners travelling to the EU. You enter the species (dog, cat or ferret), the destination country, your travel date, an optional return date and your pet's rabies vaccination status, and it works backward from the travel date to give a dated plan on screen: the rabies wait, the AHC vet-appointment window and, for dogs, the tapeworm-treatment windows. No login or account is needed.

It also offers a printable, personalised Trip Pack for a one-time £7.99, for owners who want the plan as a document to take to the vet and the border. A sample pack shows what it contains.

Rules the calculator implements

• The microchip must be implanted before, or on the same day as, the rabies vaccination.
• Rabies wait: 21 clear days after vaccination, so travel is first possible on day 22.
• AHC issue window: the Official Vet may only sign the AHC within 10 days before travel.
• Dog tapeworm treatment: vet-administered, 24-120 hours before the relevant crossing. It is required before every return to the UK, and before arrival in Finland, Ireland, Malta and Norway.
• Safety buffer: every date the site recommends is shifted 2 days inside the legal deadline.

AHC Ready does not issue certificates and gives guidance only. It is not affiliated with GOV.UK or any veterinary body, so always verify with your Official Vet.
